Teresa Polk was a senior associate of Miltner Polk & Menck, APC, from its founding, and is now a partner in the firm. With 28 years of legal experience, she represents clients in construction, surety, real property and business transactions and litigation.
Ms. Polk earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and went on to obtain her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, where she graduated in the top third of her class. She is admitted to practice law in the States of California and New York, all four district courts in California, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C. She has handled litigation in urban and rural courts throughout the State of California, including federal and state court and has represented creditors in the Bankruptcy Courts. She has represented California clients pro hac vice in the States of Washington and Minnesota, and the Eastern District of New York. She has handled out-of-state discovery matters in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Texas, Kentucky, Missouri and South Carolina.
She has also assisted clients in resolving numerous matters through such alternative dispute resolution processes as mediation, settlement conferences, early neutral evaluation, binding and non-binding arbitration, and trial by a private judge reserving rights to an appeal. Teresa has been successful in negotiating attractive settlements in technically complicated fact situations.
Prior to joining Miltner Polk & Menck, APC, Ms. Polk practiced law with the Law Offices of Charles J. Philipps; Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold; Buckner, Alani, Khouri, Chavos & Mirkovich; and Perkins & Miltner.
Ms. Polk is a member of the American Bar Association’s Torts & Insurance Practice Section and the St. Thomas More Society. She has been a speaker and author for construction, surety and business-related publications and conferences. She is available for presentations at continuing education conferences and also for presentations to client and prospective client groups on request.
